Jasmine Richards, the founder of STORYMIX, has over 15 years’ experience in commissioning and editing fiction including roles at Hamish Hamilton, Puffin, and Dutton Books in New York.          


Most recently she was the Head of the Creative  Kitchen for Oxford Children's Books where she managed a team of editors and designers to create original series fiction and picture books.  For Bonnier publisher, she edited the debut children's novel by Paralympian Ade Adepitian, and the first picture book by singer and TV presenter Rochelle Humes.


Jasmine worked as an editor for several years for the fiction packager Working Partners. She developed  concept proposals, and wrote storylines for many successful series including Beast Quest and Rainbow Magic [Orchard].  ​

As an author, she has published over a dozen titles for children ranging from picture books to teen fiction. Her most recent novel Keeper of Myths was published by Harper Collins last year. She is also a contributor to the Children's Writers' and Artists' Yearbook 2019.

Jasmine graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English Literature.  She has taught on the Oxford University Diploma for Creative Writing and also run writing workshops at the Edinburgh and Hay Book Festivals.          

​She co-founded BOOK BOUND, a premier programme of retreats and workshops that prepare writers for a career as a children's author and focuses on key elements like story structure and characterization. She also teaches creative writing at her local university.

Prior to working in publishing, Jasmine ran the Oxford Access Scheme which delivered events and talks across the country to inspire young people from inner-city state schools to apply to Oxbridge. ​As the first person in her family to go to university, and having attended an inner-city school in London, she offered an authentic and honest point of view to prospective students. Jasmine uses her unique experiences as author, editor and writing coach to develop new voices and new stories for STORYMIX.
